Elle s’appuie principalement sur la documentation française, mais prend en compte les informations disponibles dans l’ensemble de l’Europe occidentale et centrale. À cet effet elle exploite les sources historiques, les fouilles archéologiques et l’étude des bâtiments médiévaux conservés. Après un panorama illustrant l’importance de l’économie du vin, sont ensuite examinés ses effets sur les programmes des habitations, sous l’angle de la production, du stockage, de la commercialisation et de la consommation. Cette communication se consacre donc à un angle mort de la recherche, qui s’est concentrée sur les aspects économiques, sociaux et anthropologiques de la viticulture, en ignorant le plus souvent leur traduction matérielle dans l’habitat. The description of the links which unite the wine economy and urban domestic architecture is the subject of this contribution. It is mainly based on French documentation, but takes into account the information available throughout Western and Central Europe. For this purpose, it uses historical sources, archaeological excavations and the study of preserved medieval buildings. After an overview illustrating the importance of the wine economy, its effects on housing programs are then examined, from the angle of production, storage, marketing and consumption.
