Si le découpage séculaire des études littéraires empêche souvent de considérer ces corpus ensemble, la présente étude compare les textes sur l’impuissance et ceux sur la maladie vénérienne appelée la grosse vérole ou la syphilis et observe la proximité des discours en matière de défaillances masculines. L’article révèle ainsi comment la posture du mâle infirme permet aux poètes d’afficher une verve inventive qui, à l’inverse de la langue plus sérieuse des médecins, parvient à amuser et prévenir une communauté masculine clairement ciblée comme public de prédilection de ces poèmes obscènes et volontiers misogynes. This article examines the issue of male sexual health in first-person poems written between the second half of the 14th century and the 16th century. While the usual chronological division of literary studies often prevents these texts from being considered together, the study compares literary texts on impotence with those on the venereal disease known as the great pox or syphilis, and examines the proximities of these discourses on male failures. Ce dispositif original fait de ce poème une leçon dans laquelle le parcours des organes malades de l’homme pécheur appelle à la piété. In L’Anatomie du petit monde (1584), the poet and physician Joseph du Chesne uses the model of dissection to expose and condemn human vices. This dissection is not just a metaphor: the poet, with his pen-scalpel, offers a scenography that exposes the body to the reader, who is invited to look at it like in a mirror. A partir de l’étude de deux albums, j’ai analysé leurs modes de réception et leurs appréhensions de thèmes en lien avec la santé. En utilisant une méthodologie spécifique, j’ai vérifié que la littérature pour la jeunesse facilite l’interrogation intime et l’expression collective au sujet des questions de santé. Reading albums aloud can help identify interactions between works of fiction for young people and questions of health education expressed by young pupils. From the study of two albums, I analyzed their modes of reception and their apprehensions of themes related to health. Cette opération peut prendre, dans la relation médecin/patient, la forme d’une traduction à forts enjeux où tout écart traductionnel est susceptible de déboucher sur des conséquences graves. Guidée par une démarche descriptive qui s’inscrit dans la sociolinguistique variationniste et fondée sur une étude ethnographique, cette contribution vise à repérer les signes d’imperfection de la pratique vulgarisatrice entreprise par les médecins dans le contexte hospitalier marocain. Elle entend montrer que les produits terminologiques issus de la traduction des termes médicaux français vers l’arabe standard réalisent des glissements ou des déperditions du sens. Ces produits laissent apparaître un substrat hermétique attaché à l’énoncé de départ et qui ne déclenche, par conséquent, aucune représentation mentale chez le patient. In an asymmetric epistemological context, medical vulgarization is a process of increasing the density of information. In the doctor-patient relationship, this operation can take the form of a high-stakes translations where any translational deviation is likely to have serious consequences. Guided by a descriptive approach, ethnographic methods, and theoretical background from variationist sociolinguistics, this study aims to identify the signs of imperfection in the vulgarizing practice undertaken by doctors in a Moroccan hospital context. It will show that the terminological products resulting from the translation of French medical terms into standard Arabic involve shifts or losses of meaning.
