Il s’agit plus particulièrement d’examiner comment les codes spécifiques du genre sont réinvestis pour mieux engendrer une esthétique « idiote », priorisant l’expérience sensorielle sur la compréhension cognitive pour mieux donner à voir une réalité complexe, celle d’un tissu mémoriel mêlant trauma et épiphanie. Les différents procédés textuels comme la métaphore, l’ellipse ou le glissement énonciatif servent ainsi de supports à un sous-texte poétique qui vient compléter l’intrigue linéaire et logique de ses potentiels imaginaires. This article offers to study the literary resurgence of trauma in Jerome Charyn’s noir fiction in the light of the metaphorical idiot figure. It aims more specifically at evaluating how the specific generic codes of mystery novels are reinvested to foster an aesthetics of “idiocy” giving primacy to sensory experience instead of cognitive prehension. This may allow the depiction of complex realities, those of memories woven into both the sensitivity of trauma and the sensibility of epiphanies.
