Que nous apprennent‑elles des défis de la traduction transnationale ? This article studies the French translation of Caramelo (2002) by the American writer Sandra Cisneros. Based on studies on linguistic practices in Chicano literature and its translation in other languages, I analyze how this translation expresses the source text’s linguistic hybridity. Does the way the French translation depicts the Mexican diaspora in the United States reflect the French view on immigration and the immigrant?
