Il propose d’analyser ces dynamiques à partir d’une approche spatiale, en accordant une place centrale à la mer – et plus spécifiquement à la Méditerranée – conçue à la fois comme réalité matérielle et comme construction symbolique favorisant un dialogue dynamique entre les terres et les cultures. Le dialogue interculturel est ici appréhendé non comme un état stabilisé, mais comme un processus dynamique, fondé sur des échanges continus entre des sociétés en interaction constante, acceptant l’instabilité, l’incomplétude, la mobilité et la dimension diasporique. À travers l’analyse de manifestations issues de l’art contemporain et de la littérature française et catalane, l’article met en lumière les tensions mais aussi les potentialités inhérentes aux espaces de contact culturel. La mer y apparaît comme un espace fluide et structurant pour les terres qui la bordent, capable de dépasser les frontières politiques, culturelles et administratives, et de transformer l’Autre en un Nous. Cette approche s’inscrit dans une vision hétérarchique des territoires, où ceux-ci s’organisent en périphérie autour d’un centre maritime, vecteur de circulation et d’entrelacement des sociétés. L’article s’appuie sur des références théoriques en géographie littéraire et en géophilosophie afin d’examiner les œuvres d’auteurs qui proposent un dépassement des cadres nationaux et culturels établis, en offrant une vision sensible et transculturelle de l’espace méditerranéen, conçu comme un lieu privilégié de dialogue et de relation. This article is part of contemporary reflections on interculturality and transculturality, conceived as critical alternatives to the logics of homogenization characteristic of modernity and globalization. It proposes to analyse these dynamics from a spatial perspective, granting a central place to the sea—and more specifically to the Mediterranean—conceived both as a material reality and as a symbolic construction that fosters a dynamic dialogue between lands and cultures. Intercultural dialogue is thus approached not as a stable state, but as a dynamic process, grounded in continuous exchanges between societies in constant interaction, embracing instability, incompleteness, mobility, and the diasporic dimension. Through the analysis of works from contemporary art and from French and Catalan literature, the article highlights both the tensions and the potentialiaties inherent in spaces of cultural contact. The sea emerges as a fluid yet structuring space for the lands that border it, capable of transcending political, cultural, and administrative boundaries and of transforming the Other into a We. This approach aligns with a heterarchical vision of territories, in which they are organized peripherally around a maritime centre, as a vector of circulation and interweaving among societies.
