La fin de l’hégémonie électorale des travaillistes sur la scène écossaise, la victoire totale du Scottish National Party et l’avènement surprise du premier gouvernement nationaliste majoritaire, constituent trois évènements politiques historiques résultant de ce scrutin, et qui sont étudiés en détail et dans une perspective de long terme. This article analyses the results of the last Scottish Parliament elections of May 2011, by connecting them to the previous consultations which have taken place since the establishment of the devolved Parliament of Holyrood in 1999. The end of the electoral hegemony of the Labour Party on the Scottish stage, the astonishing victory of the SNP and the totally unexpected advent of the first nationalist majority government are the three historic political events which are explored in detail as well as in a long term perspective.
