L’étude s’intéresse au ministre favori, figure politique qui apparaît au début du XVIIe siècle dans de nombreuses monarchies européennes. À travers le cas espagnol, sont abordées les pratiques et les représentations qui favorisent, tout en la justifiant, l’émergence du ministre privé. Le pouvoir de celui-ci est, en effet, d’autant plus étendu qu’il n’a d’autre légitimité que celle que lui confère le monopole de l’accès à l’intimité du Prince. This article studies the king's privacy as both the source and the foundation of his power. It focuses on the valido, (favourite minister), a political figure who appeared at the beginning of the 17th century in many European monarchies. The Spanish case is used to discuss the representations and practices which led to the rise of this private minister, by justifying it. His power is all the greater as his only legitimacy comes from his having access to the Prince's private sphere.
