Deux seulement parviennent à entrelacer émigration de jadis et immigration actuelle : Lamerica (Gianni Amelio, 1994) et Azzurro (Denis Rabaglia, 2000). Emanuele Crialese, quant à lui, opère une même anamnèse non dans un film mais dans la totalité de son œuvre. En outre, le cinéaste ne s’inscrit pas dans la veine réaliste mais choisit de représenter un monde souhaitable, afin de dénoncer certaines formes d’amnésie qui risquent d’anesthésier toute la société italienne et de détruire le fondement de son identité. There are few Italian films on emigration, considering the historical importance of this phenomenon. And it is often dealt with for political aims linked to the film’s production period. Only two films manage to intertwine past emigration with today’s immigration: Lamerica (Gianni Amelio, 1994) and Azzurro (Denis Rabaglia, 2000). Emanuele Crialese even achieves to obliterate the topic not only from one film, but from his whole work.
