Jean-Claude Izzo’s three novels featuring lonely Fabio Montale tell three different family stories: that of his father and mother, who are both dead; the story from his youth, involving his cousin Gélou and his then teenage brothers in arms, Manu and Ugo; that of his adopted family, Honorine and Fonfon.
