Cet article, qui traite de deux films sur le début et la fin des Troubles - Divorcing Jack (1998) de David Caffrey et ’71 (2014) de Yann Demange - observe la lutte incertaine du « héros » qui, pour une raison ou une autre, se trouve dans une zone dangereuse « entre deux » factions. Notre intention ici est de nous concentrer sur ces deux films, à la croisée de genres différents, qui dépeignent le sort des individus qui n'appartiennent à aucune communauté. L'article aborde les questions d’un espace entre-deux, une notion qui bouscule les stéréotypes et les représentations de l’Irlande du Nord. Cinema, through its discursive construction, its independent voice and its popular reach, offers a unique medium to address Northern Ireland’s political violence linked to the sectarian divide. There has been a growing number of films about the political conflict in the last three decades which have reflected the changes in Northern Ireland and therefore taken part in the course of the evolution of society. This article, which deals with two films about the beginning and the end of the Troubles—Divorcing Jack (1998) by David Caffrey and ’71 (2014) by Yann Demange—focuses the uncertain struggle of the “hero” who, for one reason or another, finds himself in a dangerous zone between two factions. Our intention here is to focus on both films, at a crossroad of different genres, which portray the fate of individuals who don’t belong to any community. Nonetheless, the Northern Irish institutional framework and the perspective of a referendum on Irish reunification constitute major obstacles for this party of the centre seeking to promote power-sharing in a deeply divided region. Si le Parti de l’Alliance n’a joué qu’un rôle mineur pendant les années du conflit nord-irlandais, depuis le Brexit il s'est imposé comme une force politique significative, à laquelle se sont ralliés de nombreux électeurs déçus par les formations dominantes ou ne s’identifiant pas au clivage traditionnel entre unionistes et nationalistes.
