In the second half of the eighteenth century in Germany, knowledge was increasingly coming to be conceived of as ‘the sciences’, with a more thorough methodology and terminology borrowed from natural science. In this context of intense scientism, the words ‘Kraft’ and ‘Energy’, originally categories from the philosophy of Antiquity, found themselves promoted in an unprecedented manner. This gave rise to a lexical circulation of these and other semantically similar terms which spanned both the scientific field (natural science, embryology) and a wide-ranging nonscientific sphere (literature, aesthetics, philosophy of history, historiography, politics and economics) where these words were valorized for their metaphorical significance and functional status, in a period when Germany was seeking to assert itself within the group of European nations. This paper aims to investigate the following novels: Quiet street (Sivtzev vrajek) by Mikhail Osorgin, Tchevengour by Andrei Platonov, and The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. Even though these fictional works of Soviet Russia offer various registers, they all involve music to some degree. Whether substantial or not, the part played by music reveals how it may blend into History so as to write its own story within the bigger story of mankind which it ultimately explores, questions and narrates. mar., 07 avril 2020 13:39:37 +0200 jeu., 02 juil. 2020 11:17:36 +0200 http://preo.ube.fr/textesetcontextes/index.php?id=2651
