http://preo.ube.fr/textesetcontextes/index.php?id=699 Der Beitrag nimmt das Phänomen der kulturellen Zirkulation Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts anhand eines literarischen Beispiels in den Blick. Es handelt sich bei dem Begriff der Zirkulation oder, nach einem Text von Josias Ludwig Gosch aus dem Jahr 1789, bei der Erscheinung des „Ideenumlaufs“ um einen Schlüsselbegriff der europäischen Aufklärung. Der Beitrag erläutert zunächst den zeitgenössischen Zirkulationsbegriff, wie er in Deutschland um das Jahr 1800 verstanden und diskutiert wurde. Anschließend werden drei miteinander verbundene Formen kultureller Zirkulation im Medium der Literatur bzw. des Buchdrucks identifiziert. Ausgehend von der Erkenntnis Stephen Greenblatts, dass kulturelle Zirkulation immer auch mit sozialer Energie aufgeladen ist, wird zuletzt anhand je eines Textbeispiels von Denis Diderot und Friedrich Schiller ein literarischer Zirkulationsvorgang betrachtet, der sich sowohl auf der Ebene des physischen Umlaufs des Textes als auch auf der Ebene der von ihm transportierten Ideen abspielt. L'article étudie le phénomène de la circulation culturelle à la fin du XVIIIe siècle à l'aide de l'analyse d'un exemple littéraire. Le concept de circulation ou bien, d'après un texte de Josias Ludwig Gosch datant de 1789, la notion d'une « circulation des idées » est en effet un concept clé du siècle des Lumières en Europe. Nous expliquerons tout d'abord le concept de circulation tel que celui-ci a été entendu et discuté en Allemagne vers 1800. Nous identifierons ensuite trois modes de circulation culturelle en lien les uns avec les autres dans le domaine de la littérature ou bien de l'imprimerie. A partir de la conception de Stephen Greenblatt, selon laquelle la circulation culturelle est toujours chargée d'une énergie sociale, nous examinerons enfin, en prenant appui sur des textes de Denis Diderot et de Friedrich Schiller, un exemple de processus de circulation littéraire qui opère aussi bien au niveau de la circulation physique des textes qu’au niveau des idées que ceux-ci véhiculent. This article considers the phenomenon of cultural circulation at the end of the 18th century on the basis of a literary example. The concept of circulation, or, as described by Josias Ludwig Gosch in 1789, the phenomenon of the ‘circulation of ideas’, is a key concept of the European Enlightenment. The article first explains the concept of circulation at the time, as it was understood and discussed in Germany around 1800. Then three related forms of circulation will be identified in the medium of literature, or rather printing. Starting from Stephen Greenblatt’s notion that cultural circulation is also always charged with social energy, the paper then considers, on the basis of textual examples from Denis Diderot and Friedrich Schiller, a process of literary circulation, which takes place both on the level of the physical circulation of the text and on the level of the ideas conveyed by it.
