Der aus Augsburg stammende Maler steht im Zentrum des Romans von César Aira, dessen Geschichte um den Sturz des Malers vom Pferd während seines Aufenthaltes in Argentinien konstruiert wird. Zunächst werden Quellen, ihre Transformationen und Interaktionen für die Vorlage von Aira untersucht, um sich der Änderung der Schwerpunktsetzung im Werk von Rugendas zuzuwenden und eine neue Kontextualisierung seiner Malerei vorzuschlagen. This article analyses different processes of transfer connected with the oeuvre of the painter and drawer Johann Moritz Rugendas. Originating from Augsburg (Germany) this German painter can be found in the center of the roman of César Aira, whose plot is constructed around the spill from a horse of the painter during his stay in Argentine.
