À partir des écrits et de la correspondance inédite de l’auteur, l’étude fait apparaître un tissu de rapports complexes. Car si Claude Cahun s’est toujours intéressée au Surréalisme, ses liens avec le mouvement ne s’établirent que tardivement, à travers son engagement politique. Sur le plan esthétique, son œuvre plastique est plus proche de la sensibilité surréaliste que son œuvre écrite, très marquée par le symbolisme. What exactly are the links between Claude Cahun and the Surrealist movement? This project seeks to shed light on the literary, personal and political relations between Marcel Schwob’s niece and André Breton’s movement. When one considers both the author’s published work and her unpublished personal letters, some complex relations between Cahun and the Surrealists become apparent. However, if Claude Cahun was always interested in the Surrealist movement, she did not associate herself with it until quite late; and this as a result of her political involvement.
