Konsulova-Vazova réalise ses talents divers au moment de l’édification d’une culture sur le modèle européen – différent du modèle hérité. Elle intègre la seconde promotion de l’École publique des arts, qui obtiendra plus tard le statut d’Académie des beaux-arts, fait partie de la première association d’artistes en Bulgarie et prend part aux présentations pionnières de l’art bulgare à l’étranger. Elle est la première femme artiste à présenter une exposition personnelle en Bulgarie et l’une des premières femmes artistes en Bulgarie. Les critiques sur l’art en Europe et les traductions publiées par Konsulova-Vazova véhiculent une motivation clairement pédagogique. Elle commence à publier des critiques sur l’art en Bulgarie à l’âge de 30 ans – à un moment où elle a déjà acquis une expérience et des connaissances suffisantes grâce à sa fréquentation des grands musées, des bibliothèques et des salons d’expositions à Munich, à Rome et ailleurs. Son rôle dans la critique artistique et l’espace culturel bulgare s’inscrit dans sa mission de modernisation de la culture en Bulgarie et de défense de la participation des femmes au domaine culturel. Born in 1881, five years after the establishment of the modern Bulgarian state, Elisaveta Konsulova-Vazova manifested her various talents in the years of building of a culture after the European model – different from the inherited one. She belonged to the second batch of graduates at the State School of Art. She became a member of the first artistic association and participated in early exhibitions of modern Bulgarian art abroad. Hers was the first personal exhibition of a women artist in Bulgaria. She was one of the first Bulgarian modern women artists. Her early critical publications and translations on European art have an educative purpose.
